Futian plans to set up child supervisor system
    2019-03-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Futian Action Plan to Build a Children-Friendly District (2019-2020) was officially released Feb. 20, proposing to establish different levels of children councils and explore the development of a child supervisor system in order to ensure that children are engaged in public affairs.

By 2020, Futian will have created a pilot children-friendly community in every subdistrict and a nature-themed library in Xiangmi Park will be completed.

According to the action plan, Futian will carry out five projects, namely “children’s safety protection,” “child-friendly space expansion,” “children welfare guarantee,” “children participation” and “child-friendly publicity.”

In particular, the action plan proposes the establishment of different levels of children’s councils, including the district level, subdistrict level and community level. It will establish a working mechanism that covers the entire flow, from hearing the demands expressed by children to their implementation.

It will implement a children leadership cultivation plan, explore the establishment of a district-level children’s council alliance, strengthen the awareness of children about getting engaged in public affairs and protect the rights of children to engage in public affairs.

Additionally, the district will support the engagement of children in the construction and renovation of public spaces, such as public facilities, schools and communities. Children will be appointed project supervisors to participate in the assessment of of public facilities in a pilot program aimed at making sure that the city is truly friendly to children.
