Host Announcement
    2019-03-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FIBA on Aug. 7, 2015 awarded the hosting rights for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 to China.

China and the Philippines were the two finalists bidding to host FIBA’s flagship event.

The decision was made by FIBA’s Central Board after both candidates submitted their bids and each gave presentations during the Host Announcement Ceremony. The Central Board vote saw 14 in favor of China’s bid, with seven backing that of the Philippines.

This is the first time that China hosts FIBA’s flagship event.

Host cities:

Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing in East China’s Jiangsu Province, Wuhan in Central China’s Hubei Province, and four cities in South China’s Guangdong Province: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Dongguan.
