ACCLAIMED Indian black comedy and crime thriller “Andhadhun” will be shown in Chinese cinemas starting next Wednesday. Co-written and directed by Sriram Raghavan, “Andhadhun” (“The Blind Melody”) is inspired from famous French short film “L’Accordeur” (“The Piano Tuner”). The Indian movie stars Tabu, Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte and tells the story of a piano player who unwillingly becomes embroiled in the murder of a former film actor. “Andhadhun” was released by Viacom18 Motion Pictures theatrically in India in October 2018 to widespread acclaim, with critics highlighting the script and performances by Khurrana and Tabu. The movie received 8.4 out of 10 points at Chinese movie-reviewing website Douban. The Times of India called the film an “engaging thriller that keeps you on your toes and leaves you guessing all the way.” Ankur Pathak of HuffPost cited it as “a film worth watching and then rewatching.” Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV wrote, “Watch ‘Andhadhun’ with your ears, eyes and minds open. You will come away with your senses heightened.” India Today wrote, “Raghavan’s ability to shock an entire cinema hall including the most immovable, emotionless fan coupled with his ability to make the audience laugh during these moments where your heart is in your mouth defines his unique brand of cinema.” Amit Trivedi composed songs for the film while Raftaar and Girish Nakod composed and wrote a song as a guest composer. The background score was composed by Daniel B. George. Devansh Sharma of Firstpost wrote, “The music of ‘Andhadhun’ is an example of what the piano is capable of in depicting varied seasons and moods.” At India’s Screen Awards ceremony, the film won four awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay, and at India’s Filmfare Awards it won five, including Best Film (Critics) and Best Actor (Critics) for Khurrana.(SD-Agencies) |
