PINGSHAN Art Museum, a new cultural landmark in Pingshan District, was officially unveiled to the public Saturday, bringing an “Unknown city” themed exhibition that shows China’s contemporary architecture and explores the future of urban planning.

Designed by famous Chinese architect Dong Gong and covering a floor area of 9,900 square meters with six floors, the museum stands just beside Pingshan Library, which opened to the public March 23. In addition to exhibition halls, the art museum also provides visitors with delicately landscaped outdoor gardens and a spacious coffee shop.

The exhibition, running from March 30 to Sept. 30, is a celebration of the opening of the museum and features installation, photography and video works from 71 groups of the most outstanding contemporary Chinese architects, urban planners, designers, artists and researchers specializing in urban planning.

In the future, the museum will be developed to meet international standards, housing collections that demonstrate Shenzhen’s characteristics. It is currently conducting curator recruitment nationwide.
