Cold air

A NEW wave of cold air will sweep across most parts of China, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall, the country’s national observatory said yesterday.

Affected by the cold front, most areas in Northwest China will see strong winds from yesterday to Wednesday, with the temperature dropping by 6-8 degrees Celsius, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

Areas in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Gansu Province will also be hit by floating sand and dust, the NMC said.

SIX people in Northeast China’s Liaoning Province were recently sentenced and fined after being convicted of excavating and robbing relics of the Great Wall and an ancient tomb.

The criminals excavated a Great Wall relics site, dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) ancient tomb in Jinzhou of Liaoning in May 2018, according to a local court.

World Health Day

THE National Health Commission (NHC) recently hosted an event to commemorate the 70th World Health Day at West China School of Medicine of Sichuan University, in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China’s Sichuan Province.

Gauden Galea, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in China, cited China’s tiered care system, control of medicine cost and reform of public hospitals.
