Ginny, Shenzhen College of International Education

I turned back so that she could not see my smirk. My friend pretended to reach for her textbook to prevent her giggles from being heard.

Two of my classmates began to put their Oreos inside their mouth. The first one had a bite of it, then whispered “excuse me” and went to the bathroom to wash her mouth with a pale looking. The other one, without realizing the abnormality of the Oreo, had a huge bite and yelled out loud after a short pause.

“Wasabi?” he shouted at my friend, exhaling and inhaling heavily, when he finished the yelling. My friend turned her giggle into a big laugh, and I smiled, “Happy April Fool’s Day!”

Now it is the time to reveal the truth. My friend and I came to school earlier on April Fool’s Day and squeezed wasabi onto the fillings of the Oreos that we bought at a retail shop, and then we closed its back on. We left one innocent piece — the one that I ate — to eliminate our friends’ concerns that we would play pranks on them. As we expected, our little trick worked!

Of course, we considered the consequences of this joke if it wasn’t very funny to some people, such as those who are allergic to wasabi.

So we investigated whether all of our close friends were keen on wasabi by ordering sushi for lunch and see if they ate them with wasabi. Playing a trick may be amusing, but do not forget to think whether it is appropriate.

April Fool’s Day is now a day when people show their love to their crush, because if they failed, they could say that it was a joke.

I personally hope that we can show more humor, and make this day a real “prank day.”
