BESIDES food and medicine, residents living in Central China’s Wuhan City will soon be able to “order” first aid via their cellphones.

Nearly 8,000 takeaway delivery drivers in the city’s Wuchang District will receive proper training to provide emergency services to local residents, the district’s health bureau said during the World Health Expo, which is going on in Wuhan this week.

After receiving the training, the 8,000 delivery men will obtain a certificate, the bureau said, adding that the emergency service will also be incorporated into Ele.me, a leading takeaway-ordering app in China.

The ubiquitous delivery drivers on streets, once capable of offering emergency service will be able to perform CPR or artificial respiration for patients in need while waiting for an ambulance, the bureau said.

In the meantime, the Ele.me app has been connected to the medical records of its users, which can send warnings to them when they order food that doesn’t suit their health conditions, a spokesman from the app said. (Xinhua)
