A spotted seal is released into the sea in the coastal city of Dalian in Northeast China’s Liaoning Province on Thursday. Twenty-four spotted seals, who were among 100 baby spotted seals that were illegally poached in February, were set free on the day. Among the total, 39 seals died and the surviving 61 have been taken care of by animal experts and vets in local aquariums. The released seals had fully recovered and the rest will be released after further health assessments. Spotted seals are under Class One national protection in China.Xinhua |
