Shenzhen University students won the second prize in the category of musicians and bands at the Second Silk Road and Young Dreams music competition. It was the only team from Guangdong that won an award at the event.

The Second Silk Road and Young Dreams, themed “Get on the Road, Get to the Sky,” was held in Beijing on April 13. A total of 265 youngsters from 70 countries shared their understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative through six competitions including public speaking, music, sand painting, photography, e-sports and thesis presentations.

The group from Shenzhen University, with members from different countries including Aiya Jaxybayeva from Kazakhstan, Cheah Theng-yean from Malaysia, He Jiawei from China, and Shin Moonsub from South Korea, interpreted the song “I Love You China” with melodious voices and deep feeling, which brought the event to the climax. Thanks to their excellent performance, the team won the second prize.

The awards ceremony was held on April 14 in Beijing, gathering nearly 400 youth representatives, diplomats and representatives from other fields from over 70 countries.

The Silk Road & Young Dreams, a youth-oriented cultural exchange project along the Silk Road, was initiated by Silk Road Cities Alliance, and co-hosted with China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, Beijing Belt and Road Cooperative Community and the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China.

The fundamental goal of the project is to provide the youth of countries and regions along the Silk Road who have different backgrounds and dreams with a stage to let their talent and potential shine, a platform to feel the pulse of the present era and share dreams, as well as a bridge to link between societies.
