Binoche to star in ‘Camino Real’ adaptation
    2019-05-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ACTRESS Juliette Binoche is set to star in Ethan Hawke’s movie adaptation of Tennessee Williams’ 1953 stage play “Camino Real.”

Hawke earlier starred in a stage version of “Camino Real” at the Williamstown Theater Festival, and in the movie version is set to depict a surreal isolated town in a tropical climate where the characters live a sensual, dream-like narrative of love and burlesque dancing.

The film will shoot in Rio de Janeiro in 2020. “When Ethan told me about his vision for this bold, ambitious film adaptation, I was immediately excited to collaborate, and believed that Rio would be the perfect place to shoot. I can’t wait to see this remarkable, unique film come to life,” Uri Singer, CEO of Passage Pictures, said in a statement.

Hawke adapted the play with writer-composer Shelby Gaines. Singer and Hawke also worked together on Michael Almereyda’s “Tesla in New York,” where Hawke plays Nikola Tesla and Eve Hewson and Kyle MacLachlan play alongside Hawke.
