Electronic materials research institute
    2019-05-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BAO’AN District recently signed a cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to jointly build a research institute of advanced electronic materials and international innovation in Shenzhen at the first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area advanced electronic materials summit, according to sznews.com.

Guo Ziping, head of the Bao’an District Government, said at the summit that SIAT, as Shenzhen’s national technology team, has achieved great results and become one of the most renowned institutes leading independent innovation in the city.

At the same time, Bao’an has focused on the development of electronic information technology and advanced manufacturing.

Of the 37 listed companies in the district, 25 make products that are related to the electronic information industry. Bao’an is in second place on this year’s list of the 100 strongest districts in China, according to Guo.

As a result, Guo suggested that the settlement of the SIAT’s project will further improve Bao’an’s innovation capabilities, as well as its comprehensive strength.

“Bao’an will take this opportunity to offer more conveniences to ensure a successful settlement,” said Guo.

The new research institute, one of the 10 basic innovation platforms developed by SIAT in Shenzhen, not only solves the district’s shortage of high-end innovation resources, but will also help the district play a bigger role in the electronic information technology field with 5G technology at its core.

The progress will also contribute to the city’s plan to become an innovation center for the high-tech industry in the Greater Bay Area, the report said.
