Cao Zhen caozhen0806@126.com Nanshan Museum has teamed up with Shenzhen Zhuoya Primary School to set up the Boya Class Practice Base, an educational project which helps students learn history through exploring cultural exhibitions and participating in hands-on activities. The project will be based on the primary school’s current history curriculum and the museum will offer guided tours for students that will include hands-on opportunities to improve their aesthetic, practical and creative abilities. “In the past, a museum was normally defined as a place to collect, research and exhibit artifacts, but in recent years, its educational function has been more stressed all around the world. Our cooperation with Zhuoya Primary School is a good starting point and we are looking forward to organizing more activities for students,” said Qi Xin, director of Nanshan Museum, at the project launching ceremony on Saturday at the museum. “Zhuoya Primary School has always focused on cultural and historical studies. We hope that through this project, students can have a dialogue around historical artifacts, develop a passion for cultural heritages, and have a better understanding of and respect for various cultures,” said Wang Zhihui, headmaster of Shenzhen Zhuoya Primary School. At Saturday’s launching ceremony, students from the school demonstrated Chinese brush calligraphy and presented a traditional Chinese dance and a recital of “The Three-Character Classic,” one of the Chinese classic texts written in the 13th century. |
