Metro to checkpoint

METRO Line 13, which is under construction to link Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint in Nanshan District and Shiyan in Bao’an District, will be put into use in 2023.

The 22.45-km rail will pass through Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base, Shenzhen High-tech Park, Xili High-speed Railway Station, Liuxiandong Headquarters Base and Shiyan.

It has 16 stations including 12 interchange stations, according to Shenzhen Metro Co. at a ceremony Friday marking the establishment of the workers union of Line 13.

Goods smuggling

AN inbound van with licenses for both Guangdong and Hong Kong was caught Wednesday at Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint carrying 1-million-yuan (US$144,928) worth of undeclared luxury goods in two large suitcases across the border.

Customs officers found goods of well-known brands like Prada, Fendi and Jo Malone, as well as 41 boxes of bird’s nests.

The case has been handed over to the relevant department for investigation.

Fraudsters caught

DAPENG police recently busted a criminal ring that had been allegedly blackmailing victims via porn chat groups. A total of 32 suspects were arrested.

The major suspects, surnamed Cheng and Huang, rented apartments in Vietnam and Cambodia and attracted members with high salaries before dividing them into different task groups. The ring members targeted men with stable incomes and contacted them via WeChat with personal information they had purchased.

Since the beginning of 2018, the ring had victimized 200 people, blackmailing them for 30 million yuan.
