FIVE people were killed and one injured in a coal mine accident in Central China’s Hunan Province, local authorities said yesterday. Six people were trapped when the accident occurred at around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday in Xinglong Coal Mine in Longtan Township, Jiahe County in the city of Chenzhou. They were rescued and sent to a local hospital after the accident. Five people died after treatment failed. The injured is still being treated. An initial investigation showed that the cause of the accident was a gas pour-out in the mine which left the miners without oxygen. The local government is dealing with the aftermath of the accident.
