Risks of studying in US

Amid recent tightened U.S. visa policies for Chinese students and scholars on the grounds of a national security threat, the Ministry of Education warned on Monday of the risk of applying to study in the United States.

Xu Mei, the ministry’s spokeswoman, said at Monday’s press conference that for some time, visas of some Chinese students studying in the U.S. have been restricted, and the visa review period has been extended. Meanwhile, the validity period has been shortened, and the visa rejection rate has increased, which has affected the studies of Chinese students in the United States or the successful completion of their studies.

5G licenses

China will soon issue licenses for the commercialization* of 5G, as the country has already established a competitive advantage in the superfast wireless technology, the country’s top industry regulator said on Monday.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said 5G is entering a critical period of commercial deployment* globally and China’s 5G industry has established a competitive advantage through a combination of innovation and open cooperation.

White paper

China published a white paper on Sunday denouncing U.S. unilateral and protectionist measures, criticizing its backtracking* on Sino-U.S. trade talks, and demonstrating China’s stance on trade consultations and pursuit of reasonable solutions.

The white paper, “China’s Position on the China-U.S. Economic and Trade Consultations,” was issued by the State Council Information Office.

Unreliable entities

China will consider four factors when deciding whether to put a foreign entity on a list of “unreliable entities,” the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said on Saturday.

The country will establish such a list based on relevant laws and regulations to safeguard national security, public interest, and the rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, the MOC announced on Friday. The Chinese Government will consider first whether the foreign entity has adopted discriminatory measures on Chinese entities.(SD-Agencies)
