Vacation in Croatia (I)
    2019-06-05  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Feng Ping, University of Warsaw

It was a mild day in May. The weather was extremely hot in Warsaw. I became restless again in such weather, desperately wishing to explore more of the world on such beautiful days. With this idea, I booked tickets to Split in Croatia and started my journey.

I got on the plane and closed my eyes, waiting for the plane to take off. Suddenly, someone spoke to me, “May I go inside?” I opened my eyes, and saw a very tall, handsome young man standing in front of me. He had blonde hair and a pair of shining blue eyes. I couldn’t help blushing, and said rather embarrassingly, “Yes, of course.”

I felt quite nervous when sitting next to him. I could smell the strong masculine odor from his body. His strong muscles were moving up and down when he sat with his back straight. I was a little absentminded.

The plane finally took off. I didn’t speak to him, but was eager to look out of the window. He leaned backward, so that I could see outside more clearly. I smiled, and said, “Thank you.”

“Where are you from?” he asked me.

“I am from China. And you?”

“I am from Denmark.”

“Wow, I just went to Copenhagen. It is an amazing city, rich, colorful, and clean. I like Copenhagen.”

“Thank you. But I don’t think it is clean,” he laughed.

“Are you going to Split?”

“Yes. I want to go to the warm weather and have some beer there. The water in Croatia is so blue. It must put you in a good mood.”

“Yes. I think the seawater in different parts of the world is different. In Denmark, it’s dark. Dark water, and dark castles. It makes people think of the princesses in fairytale stories. The water in Poland is light green. The salinity of the Baltic Sea is very little. But the sea in Croatia is one of the bluest in the world.”

The Denmark boy opened his eyes wide, and said, “Yes. That’s it. I like blue color. By the way, what’s your name?”

“Ping. And you?”

“Dennis. Maybe we can meet each other somewhere in Croatia.”

“Yes, maybe.”

The plane landed at the airport. My trip to Croatia had just begun. On the first day, I planned to stay in Split, and on the second day, I would start my journey to Plitvice Lakes National Park where I could see the beautiful lakes in Croatia. It was named a protected world intangible cultural heritage site by UNESCO.

While I was in Split, I found time passed very slowly. I drank coffee in the bars near the seaside in Split, watching the shinning blue sea water in front of me.

Time passed quietly and peacefully. A little bored, I secretly wished my trip to the Plitvice Lakes would be full of adventures.

Sometimes, God is very naughty. He sometimes arranges your life to be full of nasty trifling things, while sometimes, all of sudden, everyday passed with surprises.

People should never be bored with their life, because who knows if the next day you will face something new that you won’t forget for all your life.

The bus from Split to Plitvice Lakes National Park took about five hours. I got on the bus and chose a seat. When I leaned on the seat, someone patted me on my shoulder from behind. I looked back, and saw it was Denis.

“Wow.” I opened my mouth wide. It was Denis! I hadn’t expected that I would meet him here. What a coincidence.
