Vacation in Croatia (II)
    2019-06-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Feng Ping, University of Warsaw

People should never be bored with their life, because who knows if the next day you will face something new that you won’t forget for all your life.

The bus from Split to Plitvice Lakes National Park took about five hours. I got on the bus and chose a seat. When I leaned on the seat, someone patted me on my shoulder from behind. I looked back, and saw it was Dennis.

“Wow,” I opened my mouth wide. I hadn’t expected that I would meet him here. What a coincidence.

“Glad to see you again. What a surprise! So, are you going to Plitvice Lakes National Park too?” He asked me and beamed.

“Yes. I am.”

“We can be each other’s company. I am going there too, alone.” He said, and laughed.

“That’s my pleasure.”

Dennis and I talked all the way to Plitvice Lakes National Park. He told me that he just graduated from university and took one month’s break, before he started to work. He came along down from the north to Germany, France, Poland, and Czech. Now, he was in Croatia.

“I wanted to travel around Europe after graduating from university too,” I said. “I like traveling, because I thought exploring foreign countries is one of the best educations a person can get. In China, there is a saying that a person should read thousands of books, and walk a thousand miles. I like traveling,” I said with ease.

“Yes. Why are you coming from Poland?” Dennis asked me.

“Because I study there,” I raised my head and said.

“Oh, that’s cool. The language in Croatia is similar to Polish language,” He said. “They are both Slavic. It is Polish people who migrated to Croatia.”

“That’s interesting,” I said. “No wonder I could find the Polish language on ATM screens.” At this moment, I thought of something, and said, ”Sorry for offending you, but I am very curious. It should have been much easier for your Danes to travel, because you earn a lot in your life.”

“Yeah,” He laughed, showing his white teeth in his mouth. “To be honest, traveling is not a problem for me. Almost all the countries that I have visited are cheaper than Denmark.”

The bus stopped at the final destination. While I was still absentminded, Dennis told me that it was time to get off the bus. We walked together for a few miles, and reached the first entrance of Plitvice Lakes National Park. This park was surrounded by forests.
