When we were babies, we were the center of the world. Everything around seemed to be there because of us. Responsibility was not ours, but our parents’. When we wanted something, we simply asked for it. When we were not happy, we just cried. Then we found we were refused sometimes. Rejection made us know we were not the king of the world. We began to realize that we were cared about, so that we learned to care about others. Our sense of responsibility started. My understanding of responsibility was once related to something ambitious. For example, we have to study hard in order to make our country stronger and our society better. However, these ambitions seemed so big that I could hardly get myself involved. Now I have realized that responsibility falls on every tiny individual like you and me, and starts from my everyday life. One day when I was waiting for the green traffic light at a crossroad, there was no other people around me, and no vehicles. One idea came into my mind that I could just cross the road in spite of the red light, for it looked safe. However, I got rid of the idea at once, and I believed that our city would become a little better, and a little lovelier, because of the tiny me. The efforts to fulfill our responsibilities are not always promising. Instead, they can be frustrating. We all know the famous counselor Zhuge Liang in the Three Kingdoms Period. He led his army north to attack the stronger Kingdom Wei five times. All his attempts failed. The point is that he knew it before he did it. Then, why did he still do something that was doomed to fail? There was no doubt that he had a strong sense of responsibility, and he felt it a must-do, and if he failed, he would retry it. The fact was that although Kingdom Wei was much stronger than Kingdom Shu, Zhuge Liang did find chances to win. At one time, he just needed a little more luck to win all over. Had he not tried, he wouldn’t have found any chance at all. Do it, try your best, and you’ll find opportunities. I think this is the right attitude to fulfill our responsibilities. In conclusion, with a sense of responsibility, we behave ourselves, better ourselves, and do our best not only for ourselves but also for others. |
