Science and technology have changed people’s lifestyles and perceptions of the world, and they have made their way onto campuses. Shenwai Longgang International School (SLIS) held its first innovation fair on June 6, during which all teachers and students visited BYD, observed hi-tech demonstrations brought by DJI and Han’s Laser, and experienced cutting-edge technologies.

At BYD, students were given a ride on the SkyRail train and then learned about BYD’s achievements in various fields such as batteries, electronics, passenger vehicles and rail transit.

The highlight of the innovation fair was a campus tour given to renowned technology companies such as Han’s Laser, DJI, VEX Robotics and Enjoy Variety.

During the tour, students had their curiosity satisfied and questions answered concerning technological “riddles.” For example, after watching a video that introduced Han’s Laser, students interacted with the guide interpreter and learned about lasers and their applications for daily life.

In addition, students participated in a model VEX Robotics Competition, which echoes SLIS’s commitment to cultivating students’ abilities to use high-tech products and their imagination and innovative capabilities.

SLIS has a newly opened drone course in its ASA Club. During the innovation fair, students learned about the classification of drone products and experienced controlling drones under the guidance of an instructor.

The school said that the first innovation fair proved to be a great success and it will continue to offer students more opportunities to learn and explore science and technology.
