7 SZ watchmakers among nation’s top 10
    2019-06-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

WHILE strengthening precision manufacturing with the spirit of craftsmanship, watch and clock brands from Shenzhen constantly embrace the latest technologies in order to gain a greater foothold in the market. Their efforts seem to be paying off, as seven local watch and clock companies have made it into the country’s top 10, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

Billed “China’s No. 1 watch and clock fair,” the 30th China Watch and Clock Fair was held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from Thursday to Sunday and attracted nearly 500 watch and clock brands from around the world.

Both time-honored and emerging brands from home and abroad brought their latest technologies and products to the audience in a bid to gain the favor of visitors and potential customers from various industrial chains.

“We bring high-tech products to the exhibition each year,” said Zhan Xiang, assistant president of Shenzhen Rarone Watch Industry Co. Ltd. According to Zhan, Rarone attaches great importance to independent R&D, owns high-end watch-making technology and has made great progress in quality standard certifications.

Zhan disclosed that the company possesses more than 50 technology and appearance patents and is currently introducing more fashionable products for young people to win more market share.

Sha Shengxi, founder of watch brand Poscer, said the company attaches importance to industrial design and strives to incorporate more popular elements and improve their products’ added value while stepping up efforts in R&D.

Though it was his first time participating in the fair, a businessman from Belgium told the reporter from the Daily that he was impressed by the innovative design of Shenzhen brands.

“I spent a day at the exhibition and found that the design and manufacturing of Shenzhen clocks and watches are beyond my expectations. Next, I will seek cooperation with some of the brands,” the businessman was quoted as saying.

Zhu Shunhua, head of Shenzhen Watch and Clock Association, said Shenzhen’s timepiece industry has close exchanges with its counterparts from Switzerland, France and Germany, which enables local enterprises to constantly bring forth new ideas and occupy domestic and international markets with innovative products.
