Zhou Hang, Class 8, Senior 1, Shenzhen Xin’an Middle School Instructed by Yang Liuqing, Tang Ying 深圳市新安中学(集团)高一(8)班 周航 指导老师:杨柳青 汤颖 We have learned how to use “self monitoring” to improve our writing in a lesson recently. What is “self monitoring”? First, we must identify mistakes, and knowing grammar can help us find them quickly. Next, we must track the source of these errors and try to eliminate them permanently. If we do this regularly, we can make fewer mistakes. Then, we have to notice and learn from the errors which can help us avoid making these mistakes again. In my opinion, this can cultivate our awareness by helping us pay attention to mistakes and improve our ability to correct them, so we must insist on doing it. Over the time, our articles and our English in general will improve. Before learning “self-monitoring,” I seldom corrected my own mistakes and I was not aware of its importance. As a result, my writing was often full of simple mistakes, and I got a low score on an English test as a result. I felt very sad. For example, in English, the plural form and the singular form of a noun are different while in Chinese they are the same, and I often make mistakes due to this. However, after this class, I know I should try to identify and correct these types of mistakes in my writing. From my point of view, this way is very useful and I will keep working hard to improve my writing. From this lesson, I have also realized that when learning a language, we make mistakes endlessly, and these mistakes are the mother of success due to the process of correction. Moreover, a person’s life is a process of making mistakes and correcting them. We must do this to improve our English and perfect ourselves. |
