Convenience stores

CITIES including Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan and Xi’an will have more convenience stores in 2019, with more policy support from local commerce authorities.

Over 700 new convenience stores will open this year in the capital city of Beijing, covering retail chains such as Bianlifeng, Suning Xiaodian and 7-eleven, Shanghai Securities News reported.

Waste-to-energy plant

SHANGHAI has built a waste-to-energy plant that can treat a third of the total garbage produced by its residents, as the city pushes for greener development, according to local authorities.

The second phase of the waste-to-energy plant was put into operation Friday.
