How time flies!

I wonder if you still remember your dream of becoming a filmmaker and creating a utopia for people who have dreams.

You will have turned 26 and just finished your doctoral studies. Standing at this crossroad in life, what will you do? Will you sacrifice a secure job for an uncertain future in the film industry, or will you drown yourself in a mundane life doing a job you don’t like in order to buy things you don’t really need?

I hope you will know that you have been, and will be, an idealist all your life. Don’t give up on your dream in exchange for a so-called decent life. I know you may doubt about your decision. You may find imperfections in the film industry and wonder whether you can make something of yourself. All I want to say is, believe in yourself. Life is too short to be trapped in anxiety. In life, pleasure and pain can’t be separated clearly. You can only wish it is genuine.

I wish you a wonderful life. I hope this letter will be sent to the girl who is making a film in a studio, the girl whose eyes still light up upon hearing the word “dream.”
