Government responds over protracted park project
    2019-07-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Futian District Government recently responded over the prolonged project of Antuo Hill Park, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

Although the project had finished seeking public opinion on its plan in 2017, the government said that the project was delayed because it covers a large area and there is a huge slope that needs to be treated.

The government said that it confirmed this April that it would first launch the park’s greenery project as soon as possible to provide an exercise and leisure area for residents living nearby, while the main project would be conducted in different phases.

A resident who was identified by his surname Chen said that he had to take the Metro to Lianhua Hill Park or Shenzhen Bay Park if he wanted to visit a park, which is not convenient. Chen also added that there are no residential community parks nearby.

At present, some greenery projects have been concluded at the park but are not going to be put into use for the public, according to the report.

The Antuo Hill Park project has been mulled since 2005. In 2007, the park’s location and land-use area were made public to solicit public opinion, according to the report.

The park was planned to be surrounded by Beihuan Boulevard to the north, Shenyun Road to the east, Youling Road to the south and Qiaocheng Road East to the east, covering a land area of 57.5 hectares.

A blueprint published in 2016 said that the park was conceived as a comprehensive park, including cultural centers, management offices, underground parking lots and equipment storage warehouses.

Futian will cooperate with relevant departments to advance the project and provide a public area for residents to exercise and relax, said the report.

Antuo Hill has abundant natural resources. Standing on the top of the hill, residents can overlook the entire OCT area, Futian CBD and Shenzhen Bay. It was also the major stone collection site for early land-reclamation projects. (Wang Jingli)
