Longgang becomes top destination for college graduates
    2019-07-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

As graduation season came to an end in early July, the number of deliveries sent out by college graduates surged as they left campus and moved on to a new season of their lives. According to statistics from Cainiao Smart Lockers, Alibaba’s logistics unit, college graduates this year have delivered 30 percent more packages than those who graduated in previous years.

Delivery destinations indicate the places where the newly graduated will work. Top destinations include Zhangjiang in Shanghai, Longgang in Shenzhen and Yuhang in Hangzhou. Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park, a hub for prominent tech-giants including IBM, Shengda and General Motors, attracted many newly graduated job hunters. Within Shenzhen, Longgang, Nanshan and Bao’an — home to Huawei, BYD, Tencent and DJI — are most popular, contributing to the city’s highest rate of population growth in China.

Besides the growing volume of packages delivered by college graduates, the weight of parcels also increased, many of which exceeded 200 kg. The heavy packages tell of the varied stories written by millions of youth leaving campus.
