Critically ill Indian sailor rescued
    2019-07-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

YANTIAN Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection saved a critically ill Indian ship crew member recently. This crew member is now in the CCU (Coronary Care Unit) at Yantian District People’s Hospital and is in stable condition, sznews.com reported.

Shenzhen International Shipping Agency asked the station for urgent help at 3:35 p.m. Monday. They said that a man had suffered a heart attack and experienced chest tightness before falling unconscious aboard the Seroja Tiga, which was scheduled to dock at the Yantian international port at 4:30 p.m. There was no way to provide immediate treatment, so all of their hope was on shore.

In order to act within the window for carrying out first aid, the station initiated the emergency plan and opened the green channel. Shortly after verifying the authenticity of the ship and agency, the station issued a temporary entry permit to enable the man’s onshore treatment. Additionally, by working with the agency, the station was able to contact the nearest top-grade hospital and guide the ambulance and medical staff to the estimated docking location. Police who were fluent in English were also present to monitor the entire aid process.

Currently, the crew member is still in the hospital awaiting further treatment. The ship and agency have expressed their sincere appreciation to the station for its fast and positive actions to save the man’s life.  (Chen Siqi)
