Han Ximin ximhan@126.com SHENZHEN Metro Co. yesterday updated LCD maps installed inside trains with optimized interfaces and functions to guide on-board passengers. The interfaces have become more visual, intellectual and dynamic, while guiding passengers to learn about the train station where they are catching a ride, the next station and the route of the line. The interfaces also indicate where the nearest elevators, escalators and toilets are in relation to the carriages. “The traditional LCD maps have a simple design and are limited in what information they provide, while the updated version provides more visual information for riders and will improve their riding experience,” the company said. Besides the information about the routes, train stations and interchange stations, the updated interfaces provide passengers with directions to the exits and entrances, toilets and escalators, as well as carriage position information, before they get off the trains. The information will help passengers be more aware of the nearest escalators where they can exit before they disembark, as well as the exits that allow them to transfer to other lines. This will save time for passengers and help relieve congestion during rush hours. For passengers with large suitcases, the service will help save them the trouble of finding elevators. The introduction of the dynamic map interfaces is another example of Shenzhen Metro applying technology to its service, following the congestion rating system that has been in use since May. |
