
Wang Jingli wangjingli0715@163.com The final rounds of the 2019 University FinTech Competition was held last Saturday at the Chinese University of Hong Kong Shenzhen (CUHK-SZ) in Longgang District. Three teams from Zhejiang University, Northeastern University and Sichuan University made the top three places after competing against another nine groups in earlier competitions. Hosted by the Shenzhen Finance Institute of CUHK-SZ, the competition attracted over 900 students from 341 universities, aiming to draw more university students into the field of financial technology (FinTech) and to promote the fintech industry. A total of 12 teams made it to the finals. The shortlisted teams gave a presentation about their projects involving topics such as mobile payment, cloud recognition, life sciences, supply chain finance and cloud computing. The project developed by the Zhejiang University team is devoted to providing data services to AI companies and scientific and research institutes. Northeastern University’s team focused on intelligent inspection while the Sichuan University team’s project looked for solutions to the financing issues faced by small- and medium-sized enterprises. Zhang Bohui, presidential chair and professor of finance at CUHK-SZ, said that the competition not only offers an opportunity for students to present their innovative ideas on FinTech but also helps companies to find talents in the field. A FinTech summit was also held after the competition. Representatives from companies including Pinan Group, SenseTime, China Construction Bank and China Merchants Bank shared their views and insights on FinTech-related topics. |
