Party chief conducts research on garbage sorting and disposal
    2019-08-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN Party chief Wang Weizhong conducted research on garbage sorting and disposal sites Tuesday, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

After previously conducting several such researches, this time Wang went to Baishida Fourth Community, where waste is sorted by residents before being separately transported. Wang was delighted to witness the process in action and said that people’s enthusiasm will rise when they see that their hard work contributing to environmental protection has not been in vain.

Wang emphasized the need for further education and guidance to deepen the community’s recognition of the importance and necessity of garbage classification.

Furthermore, garbage classification should be regarded as essential content in the “first school lessons,” so that young people begin to develop awareness and good habits regarding garbage classification and environmental protection from childhood.

Wang also went to the Xiaping solid waste landfill, which is one of the city’s household garbage treatment facilities. He asked that the most advanced technologies be applied to sealed transportation, odor control, leachate and methane treatment, and other aspects regarding waste termination, in order to minimize the landfill’s impact on surrounding residents. He also asked the staffers to identify hidden safety risks, strengthen dangerous slopes, and ensure safe and stable operation during typhoons and rainstorms.

He added that Shenzhen is on the way to establishing a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Therefore, Shenzhen should strive to become an example of a strong modern socialist city as well as a pioneer and vanguard in all aspects, including garbage classification. (Chen Siqi)
