Ticket refunds

SHENZHEN Airlines and China Southern Airlines are offering refunds or flight change services for tickets to Taiwan dated after Aug. 1, after the mainland suspended individual tours from 47 cities to Taiwan on Thursday.

For flights with Shenzhen Airlines, travelers can call 95361 or visit the counters to inquire about the service. Travelers with China Southern Airlines can call 95539.

The deadline for the service for China Southern Airlines is Aug. 31.

Traffic casualties drop

SHENZHEN reported 891 traffic accidents that resulted in 151 deaths and 531 injuries in the first half of the year, a decrease of 7 percent compared with the same period last year.

The Shenzhen traffic police bureau initiated an in-depth research mechanism for traffic accidents involving fatalities in 2016.

By the end of July, Shenzhen police had completed in-depth investigations into 156 cases this year. Fifteen people were criminally detained in seven cases and 16 people were administratively detained in 13 cases.

Also in the first half of the year, police handled 2,343 drunk driving cases and 3.47 million traffic violations.
