THE construction of the Shenzhen general aviation airport will start in January 2020 and last three years, according to a public notice released by the provincial development and reform commission last week. The Nantou Helicopter Yard will be relocated to the new airport in Zhangkengjing, Longhua District, upon completion. The 1.74 billion yuan (US$251 million) project includes a flight area, depot area and operation-supporting infrastructure. The flight area includes buildings covering 89,130 square meters, a 800-meter-long and 23-meter-wide runway and 43 parking aprons, as well as a waiting hall, control center and command tower. The project has set a target of handling 6,080 helicopter takeoffs and landings per year starting in 2030. The annual flight hours are expected to exceed 15,200 hours. Any individual or organization can give suggestions on the construction of the airport in the five days after Thursday. (Han Ximin) |
