THE GDP in Bao’an District reached 185.6 billion yuan (US$26.4 billion) in the first half of the year, an increase of 7.4 percent year on year, the executive meeting of the Bao’an CPC committee announced recently.

Between January and June, the district’s investment in fixed assets reached 58 billion yuan, up 32.5 percent and ranking it first among the 10 districts and new area in the city. The investments in fixed assets has increased by at least 25 percent for 10 straight quarters since 2017.

In the high-tech sector, the industrial added value of enterprises above a designated scale reached 80.6 billion yuan, an increase of 3.1 percent. The industrial output of high-tech enterprises reached 216.1 billion yuan, an increase of 4.2 percent.

In the first six months, the total retail sales of consumer goods in Bao’an reached 41.5 billion yuan, an increase of 7.5 percent and ranking the district third in the city. The district’s general public budget revenue was 14.2 billion yuan, up by 6.4 percent, while tax revenue was 38.5 billion yuan, an increase of 7.5 percent.

“In the second half of the year, Bao’an will promote employment, trade, finance and foreign investment, ensuring the year-end target through precise and effective measures aimed at the healthy development of the economy by focusing on industries and foreign trade,” Yao Ren, secretary of Bao’an District Committee of the CPC, said at the meeting.

Bao’an will also speed up the treatment of polluted rivers and urban villages, and the construction of the Greater Airport Area, Bao’an CBD and airport area, while ensuring the inauguration of the new Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in September.

The engineering of the main structure of the new Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center has been completed and Bao’an Expo will be held in the new venue this September.
