SZ aims to win sixth national civilized city title
    2019-08-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN Party chief Wang Weizhong told city officials to go to the worst, most polluted and dangerous areas and neighborhoods to research and review problems existing in the areas.

Wang made the remarks at a meeting of the Municipal Spiritual Civilization Construction Office on Wednesday, where officials discussed ways to mobilize different sectors of the city to strive to be selected as a national civilized city for the sixth time.

Wang urged the adoption of high standards to ensure that the relevant construction projects will achieve the intended results. He emphasized the role of meticulous management and a shared community governed by all in continuously increasing the happiness of residents.

Wang said that policies are important but efforts should also be made to ensure residents understand and get real benefits from these policies.

During the meeting, representatives from Luohu District said that they will organize different activities in communities to spread a civilized spirit among residents.

Staff with the Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau said that they had launched a comprehensive action plan to promote the work on greening, urban villages, public lighting systems, “toilet revolution,” garbage sorting, civilized dog keeping and strengthening the punishment of uncivilized behaviors.

The traffic police bureau said that they would reduce traffic disorder to increase traffic civilization.

Shenzhen has been selected to build a pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The construction of a civilized city is one step to strive for the goal.

Initiated in 2005, the selection of national civilized city is held every three years. Shenzhen has won the award five times so far.
