POLICE DESTROY ILLEGAL GUNS

A cache of seized illegal guns are displayed before being destroyed by police in Yulin, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, yesterday. Police in 154 cities across China yesterday destroyed a total of 107,000 illegal guns confiscated last year nationwide. Tons of illegal explosives were also disposed of. So far this year, police have busted more than 163 criminal organizations involved in the illegal possession of guns and explosives, according to the Ministry of Public Security. From January to July, the number of criminal cases involving guns and explosives dropped by 20 percent from the same period of last year.China News Service
