The “Happy Mind Happy Life” Summer Camp, an international summer program designed for Chinese children and their peers from foreign countries, is being held at Nanshan International Cultural Exchange and Service Center (NSIC) and will last until Friday. It’s the first international summer program held in Zhangshao Subdistrict in Nanshan.

Hosted by Zhaoshang Subdistrict and supported by the Shenzhen Nanshan Southwind Social Work Service Center and the Nanshan International Cultural Exchange and Service Center, the event aims to enrich children’s lives during the summer break and enhance the friendships between Chinese and foreign children.

The 10-day program features a variety of activities on topics such as team spirit, personal growth, handicrafts, dancing, computer programming, board games, creativity and design, art creation, and parent-children games. All these activities are conducted in English.

Through these games and classes, children learn how to better communicate with their peers and how to better work with teammates.

“It’s my first time joining such a fun international program. I have made a lot of Chinese friends here and they are all very friendly. I like it here,” Nicolas Rugaba from France said.

Teachers also achieved personal growth during their time with the children. “I was very nervous at the very beginning, because I had never taken care of so many kids before, not to mention that it’s a summer program. It went more smoothly than I had expected, for most of the kids were very cute and well-behaved,” teacher October Ge said.
