An engineer works on Jingshi-1 satellite at the assembly workshop of Aerospace Dongfanghong Development Ltd. Shenzhen yesterday. The Shenzhen-made satellite, China’s first polar remote sensing satellite, is ready for a launch slated for September. The satellite will monitor and collect data on the difficult-to-access environment of the North and South Poles, help forecast haze and provide satellite images of Shenzhen. It will reduce China’s dependence on European countries and the United States for the technology.Wen Kun |
