Unmanned delivery car

An unmanned delivery car with 5G wireless technology hit the roads in the city of Nanjing, capital of East China’s Jiangsu Province, over the weekend.

The white mini car, with a height of about 0.5 meters, was launched in Jiangbei New Area by Suning Logistics, a subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant Suning to support the company’s smart retail service. The car’s self-driving performance has been greatly improved, allowing it to pass traffic lights on its own and at a faster speed, with a normal average operating speed of 8 km/h, and up to 15 km/h. It can also detect obstacles 100 meters away and avoid them.

Anti-violence rally

More than 470,000 people gathered on Saturday in a rally held at Tamar Park, Admiralty of Hong Kong, to voice their demand for peace and stability in Hong Kong.

Waving the Chinese national flag and the flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and holding signs with slogans written including “Stop Riots,” “Anti-violence” and “Save Hong Kong,” the crowd was enthusiastic and impassioned despite the rain.

Rock collapse

Four bodies have been retrieved from the rock collapse site on the Chengdu-Kunming railway, a major rail line in Southwest China, said a source of the emergency rescue headquarters on Sunday.

The rock collapse took place at around 12:44 p.m. on August 14 on the Chengdu-Kunming railway’s section in Ganluo County, Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Liangshan, Sichuan Province, where 17 workers were repairing the railway damaged in an earlier landslide. The rock collapse again caused the disruption of the major railway line’s operation.

Internet literature

The authorities had handled 10 criminal cases and 67 administrative cases, and ordered more than 70 websites to rectify transgressions* by the end of July in campaigns against online vulgar and pornographic literature content, said a national office overseeing the work on Thursday.

A total of 347 case clues relating to pornography were transferred to authorities involved in the crackdown, according to the National Office for the Fight Against Pornography and Illegal Publications. (SD-Agencies)
