The first graduation ceremony of the science training camp organized by Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU) was held on Saturday morning at the SMBU campus in Longgang District. The camp’s first batch of graduates, accompanied by parents and teachers, attended the ceremony.

The training camp, which lasted one week, is specifically designed for junior and senior high school students. The camp includes two distinct training focuses in language ability and mathematical ability.

Six teachers from four renowned schools organized the project’s key lessons. They planned for a string of activities to be held in all classes, allowing students to learn through play.

Traditional Chinese cultural items such as the traditional Chinese stringed musical instrument the guzheng, ceramics and Chinese woodblock printing as well as Russian cultural elements such as matryoshka dolls (Russian nested dolls) and Russian traditional clothes were also included in the training process, helping students to learn more about the two countries’ cultures.

Yang Gang, a prominent math teacher from Beijing, said that although the program was short, he hopes students will now use new ways of thinking when addressing math problems in the future.

Next, SMBU will continue to take full advantage of its high-quality teaching resources to build a training camp system featuring Chinese and Russian characteristics.
