Poaching ban

THE city is considering extending the ban on the hunting of wildlife to the entire city, according to a draft plan unveiled by the city’s planning and natural resources bureau to solicit public opinion.

Wildlife is considered to be any species listed on the national, provincial or municipal protection lists. Those who hunt animals for research, rescue and breeding purposes must obtain a license from the authorities.

The public is encouraged to report poaching and related crimes by calling 110 and 8329-9110.

Summer travel peak

SHENZHEN North Railway Station and its affiliated stations sent 18.67 million passenger’s on trips during the two-month summer travel season that ended in August, an increase of 13.72 percent year on year.

The number of arriving passengers reached 17 million, an increase of 11 percent.

The summer travel peak arrived Aug. 10, with 361,200 passengers being sent by via Shenzhen North Railway Station and its affiliated stations, including Futian Station and Pingshan Station.

Over 500 hostels

DAPENG New Area has become a tourism destination with more than 500 registered hostels scattered along the 2-kilometer-long coast, from Jiaochangwei area to Dapeng Town and in Dapeng Fortress.

The hostel entities are equal in number to the businesses like eateries, and entertainment and shopping venues, according to a report in Shenzhen Economic Daily on Tuesday.

On an online booking website for hostels, the introduction to the hostels in Jiaochangwei and Dapeng has the dominant position, showing the recognition of the area’s hostels among travelers.
