    2019-09-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

xīntài bēng le

Meaning:

“心态” means “status of mind,” and “崩了” means “to collapse.” This term, coined by Chinese netizens and first used by gamers, is an exaggeration that means “I feel despair.” It became popular after different versions of emoijis were created to go with the line. People often use it when they are dealt an unexpected blow.

Example:

Nǐ zěnme zuìjìn qíngxù dīluò?

Why do you look unhappy lately?

Going to the same university as the girl I have a crush on, I thought I could finally confess my feelings. I didn’t expect her to become another person’s girlfriend so quickly. Now I feel despair.
