City to host marine economy expo in October
    2019-09-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 2019 China Marine Economy Expo (CMEE) will be held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from Oct. 14 to 17, according to the Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau.

Shenzhen will be the expo’s host city on a yearly basis starting this year, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported Thursday.

Organizing the event will not only enhance the city’s exhibition industry, but also provide strong support for developing Shenzhen into a global marine city. It fully reflects the expectation and backing of the country for Shenzhen’s marine industry, said the Daily.

The first CMEE was held in Guangzhou in 2013. Zhanjiang City hosted the expo in the following five years.

This year’s CMEE will focus on the achievements of China’s marine economy and the technological advancements of the global marine economy.

Institutions and enterprises in the fields of marine resources development and marine equipment, shipping, science and technology will be invited to showcase China’s achievements in such areas as marine development, core technologies, major facilities and resources protection.

The expo will also feature trade and investment promotion activities, as well as a series of professional forums on new approaches to developing the marine economy, according to the expo’s organizing committee.

So far, a number of key enterprises, including China National Offshore Oil Corp., China Communications Construction Co. Ltd., Kongsberg and Siemens, have confirmed their participation in the expo.

The total number of exhibitors is expected to exceed 450. About one-fourth of them are leading enterprises at home and abroad as well as Fortune 500 companies.

The expo is the only State-level marine economy expo in China. It is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Guangdong Provincial Government, and hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal Government.  (Zhang Yu)
