DAPENG New Area will initiate the registration of bed-and-breakfast inns (B&Bs) starting in October, according to the new area’s work plan on B&Bs registration and supervision, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported. According to statistics, there are about 1,500 B&Bs covering all 25 communities in the new area, which account for about three-quarters of the city’s, and one-third of the province’s, total B&Bs. According to the work plan, the new area’s cultural and sports authority is responsible for coordinating B&B development, and the local housing and construction bureau is in charge of investigating the quality and safety of B&Bs. Meanwhile, the public security bureau and local fire brigade are responsible for public security management and fire safety work, respectively. It is specified that B&B operators should complete B&B registration and sign a commitment letter within 20 working days after the new area’s market supervision authority approves their business license. For B&Bs opened before Sept. 1, registration shall be completed within 90 days. Guangdong Province started to implement the first province-level B&B management measures in China on Sept. 1. The measures canceled the restrictions on the floor area and number of floors of B&Bs and made clear provisions on the conditions and procedures for the opening, operation standards, supervision, management and legal responsibilities of B&Bs.
