CHINA’S economic operations were within a reasonable range in the January-August period, and the country is able to achieve its full-year growth target, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) spokesman Fu Linghui said yesterday. China’s 2019 economic growth target is around 6 to 6.5 percent. Fu told a news conference the government is watching the impact from the attack on Saudi oil facilities. Premier Li Keqiang said in an interview with Russian media which was published yesterday on the Chinese Government’s website that for China, to maintain growth of 6 percent or more is very difficult against the current backdrop of a complicated international situation and a relatively high base. The world’s No. 2 economy faced “certain downward pressure” due to slowing global growth as well as the rise of protectionism and unilateralism, Li said. The economy was “generally stable” in the first eight months of the year, he said.(SD-Agencies) |
