Chinese music producer-turned-painter enters Guinness records with longest painting
    2019-09-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A PAINTING with a length of 1,014.37 meters has received a Guinness World Record title for the longest drawing by an individual.

The record was announced Saturday at the Simatai Great Wall in Beijing’s Gubei Water Town.

The painting was laid out on the Great Wall, surrounded by the verdant mountains of an early autumn.

It took artist Guo Feng two months to complete the black-and-white painting titled “Yongsheng,” meaning immortality in Chinese. He says he was inspired by the view of the Great Wall from the sky, and wanted to call for peace and harmony in the world.

The painting comprises 10 sub-themes, and was created mainly using marker pens.

According to Guo, he had been drawing for more than 10 hours a day over the past months and sometimes began working at 4 a.m. “Creating the work on the Great Wall was an unprecedented lonely and quiet time for me to look into my life. I’ve infused my ideas coming out during the process into the painting,” the 57-year-old says.

The public is more familiar with Guo as a music producer. One of his songs, “Let the World Be Filled With Love,” has enjoyed popularity in the country for more than three decades. (SD-Agencies)
