THE Shenzhen traffic police will impose traffic controls and have called for viewers of the fireworks display to take public transport to the show, which will be held at Shenzhen Talent Park near Shenzhen Bay on the night of Oct. 1.

The fireworks display, to be held between 8 p.m. and 8:25 p.m., is a major event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

More than 3,000 officers will be on duty to guide traffic.

The area around the talent park will ban vehicles, and the restricted area surrounding the banned area, encompassed by Houhai Boulevard, Baishi Road, Binhai Boulevard and the viaduct of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, will start imposing traffic controls at 5 p.m. Vehicles outside the restricted area will be diverted to other roads.

The parking lots in the banned area will not provide parking spots for vehicles.

However, police will ensure the traffic to Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint is not disturbed by the fireworks. Vehicles traveling to the checkpoint can go eastward at Dongbin Road.

Shenzhen Metro Group will increase the number of trains on Lines 2, 9 and 11 for riders to Shenzhen Bay Park.

On Oct. 1, the Metro service will be extended to midnight. After the fireworks, some Metro stations near Shenzhen Bay Park, such as Shenwan, Hongshuwan, Keyuan, Houhai and Dengliang, might be temporarily closed, entry-only or exit-only. Trains might skip the stations close to Shenzhen Bay Park or the operator may limit the number of riders, depending on the actual situation, to avoid crowding and stampedes.

Between 6:30 a.m. and         8:30 p.m., exits A, C and D2 of Shenzhen Bay Park Station on Line 9 will be closed. The VIP carriages of Line 11 trains will carry the same passengers as the ordinary carriages.

Shenzhen bus operators will add three temporary bus routes, running 500 buses, to transport viewers to distant Metro stations like Qianwan, Shenzhen University and Shangsha stations after the fireworks. A total of 39 bus routes will be adjusted or temporarily suspended for the fireworks display.
