Review on ‘Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief’

This book is about a trouble-making boy named Percy Jackson who found out that he is the son of one of the Greek gods.

The king of the gods, Zeus, says that Jackson stole his weapon and threatens to punish him. So Jackson tries to find the weapon to save himself.

In this book, I like Grover the most. He is half-goat, half-human, and he is always very positive and cheerful. Grover is Jackson’s protector.

He pretends to be Jackson’s friend at first to protect him. And in the end, when Jackson is captured by an enemy, Grover lets him and his mom get away.

I like three parts of the story a lot.

The first part is when Jackson’s mom tells Jackson about his father: “He’s not dead, just lost in the sea.” That was really interesting because we can guess from that that he is the son of Poseidon. Poseidon is the god of the sea. That part makes me feel excited, like I want to read on.

My second favorite part is when Jackson confronts the thief.

“Maybe they were wrong, you are not the son of Poseidon.” (Although Poseidon controls water, Jackson couldn’t use this power.)

“Well I think maybe they were right.”

Then he controls the water and uses it to defeat the army.

I think it is so cool that in the end that he uses a power to defeat the army, because he doesn’t really accept that he is the son of Poseidon.

My third favorite part is when Jackson returns the sword to Zeus and meets his father. His father asks Zeus to have a chat with Jackson (because the rule is that the gods cannot meet their children by themselves.)

When they meet each other, it is really tough. I felt really excited when he gave a high-five to his father.

Although his dad didn’t really participate in his childhood, he is always there with him, just in another way.

I would recommend this book to other teenagers. It was a really interesting book. I like it a lot!
