Imitation guns seized

A TOTAL of 996 imitation guns were seized by Hangzhou customs in East China’s Zhejiang Province, according to the General Administration of Customs.

The confiscated guns, including sniper rifles, submachine guns and pistols, were similar to real guns in appearance, color and size. Loaded with bullets, they could be dangerous.

In China, imitation guns are prohibited from entry and exit of the country. They shall be confiscated and destroyed once detected by customs, and suspects shall be punished or even given criminal sanctions in severe cases.

Fewer accidents

WORKPLACE safety in China’s mining industry continued to improve this year, with the number of both accidents and casualties dropping from a year earlier, official data showed yesterday.

African swine fever

THE country has confirmed a new case of African swine fever in its Northwest Gansu Province.

The disease was detected in a cooperative in Minxian County, Dingxi City. Among the 287 pigs in the cooperative, 265 were infected and died, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on Sunday, citing a report from the China Animal Disease Control Center.
