A DELEGATION led by Huang Min, vice mayor of the city, conducted a water pollution control inspection in Bao’an District on Thursday, the Bao’an Daily reported. Yang Xiuyou, deputy secretary-general of the city government, Zhang Liwei, chief of the Shenzhen Municipal Water Affairs Bureau, and Yin Jie, vice chief of the Shenzhen Municipal Ecology Environment Bureau, also participated in the inspection. The delegation was accompanied by Guo Ziping, head of the Bao’an District Government and Zhu Enping, deputy head of the district government. The delegation inspected Maozhou River’s diversion canal and tributaries and held a symposium on the district’s progress in river governance and water quality monitoring. According to the Daily, Bao’an has built 4,320 kilometers of new rainwater and sewage pipelines across the district over the past three years. There are 12 sewage treatment plants and stations in operation in the district, with treatment capacity totaling 1.7 million tons per day. Bao’an was also expected to complete its annual task of comprehensively eliminating polluted and odorous water yesterday, said the Daily. Huang emphasized that the district is presently at a decisive stage in fighting water pollution and should maintain momentum to ensure the completion of this annual task. Bao’an shoulders the majority of tasks in tackling water pollution in the city and has made great strides toward that end so far, according to Yang. He said the district’s experience in water treatment is worth summarizing and promoting in the city. Guo said Bao’an will fulfill its tasks step by step according to the requirements of higher authorities, strengthen management and law enforcement, and speed up exploring new pipeline operation methods and management.
