深大学子出征国际乒联瑞典公开赛

陈梦荣获“双冠王”

Chen Meng, a student at Shenzhen University, clinched the women’s singles title at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Swedish Open as she fought back to beat Japanese defending champion Mima Ito 4-3. The tournament was held from October 1 to 7.

Chen and her teammate Ding Ning won the gold medal in the women’s doubles final, helping China sweep the gold medals in all five events.

Chen was on the brink of defeat when she trailed Mima Ito 3-1.

However, the Chinese top seed rallied to win the last three games to secure a hard-fought victory.

Sun Yingsha, Chen’s teammate and schoolmate, stood at third in the Swedish Open, but she won the women’s singles title at the 2019 ITTF World Tour Platinum, German Open, which was held from October 8 to 13. Sun overcame Mima Ito in five games (11-3, 9-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-4) on October 12.

Before the games, Sun was invited to the National Day parade held at Tiananmen Square on October 1 as a rising star on China’s table tennis team.
