Mid-Autumn Festival

When the Mid-Autumn Festival was approaching, we were busy preparing moon cakes and some other plans according to the special customs of my family.

On the first day of the festival holidays, I stayed at home and chatted with my parents about what happened the day before at school, and then we began to discuss the plan for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

After the plan was completed, we went to cook. At the same time, the preparations started.

The next morning, I was woken up by a noise from the kitchen. Walking towards the kitchen, I saw my busy father and asked him, “What are you doing father? It’s really loud.” My father turned to me, and I saw there was a lot of flour on his hands. He said, “Oh, when did you wake up? I’m sorry for disturbing you! I am making dumplings.”

I was really surprised and opened my mouth so big that an egg could have been put into it. “Who will eat dumplings at the Mid-Autumn Festival?”

My father laughed, “Guys! Come on, give me a hand.” Hearing that, I went to the bathroom with my drowsy face and cleaned up.

Five minutes later, I came back to the kitchen. Even though I was unwilling, my father still wanted to teach me and my sister how to make dumplings from scratch.

It was so hard to do, so I only made three dumplings and then went out to play.

During lunch time, I was given the dumplings made by myself. After I tasted one of them, I found it was really delicious.

After lunch, we laughed, made jokes and cut some different moon cakes.

Among the various moon cakes, I just love the normal moon cakes the most, which are made from sweetened beans and salted egg yolk.

I don’t like the other moon cake fillings, for example nuts, fruits, and the like.

What a happy experience for me! I tasted the dumplings made by my effort and ate a lot of moon cakes. I’m looking forward to the next Mid-Autumn Festival.
